Borlan Cycle Route
Demanding but rewarding 82km route with much hilly terrain. This circuit takes it’s name from the Borlan valley, through which it passes. It will take from five to nine hours.
Leave Kenmare on the R569 towards Kilgarvan.
Kilgarvan – on entrance to the village turn right at the Healy Rae shop and filling station. THe road is signposted for Bantry.
Pass the highest point of the circuit and descend into the Borlan valley.
At Ballylickey – rejoin the main N71 road.
Pass through the picturesque village of Glengariff and then climb towards the Caha pass.
Descend from the Caha pass, through the village of Bonane and return to Kenmare.
