Shelburne Lodge
The Foley family are delighted to have welcomed guests for over 20 years to enjoy Irish hospitality in historic surroundings.
We invite you to enjoy “country house comfort in Kenmare” at Shelburne, Kenmare oldest home predating the town itself.
Shelburne Lodge was the original house in the area of Lord Shelburne William Petty-Fitzmaurice and his family.
He commissioned the design of charming Kenmare which was completed in 1775. In 1782 he was appointed Prime Minister of Great Britain and was involved in the historical treaty bringing the conflict between Britain and America to an end.
Kenmare town with is fabulous restaurants, shops and bars is just five minutes’ walk. The waterside 18-hole golf course lies adjacent to Shelburne Lodge. The lovely Georgian farmhouse is set in a large garden with lawns, a herb garden, an orchard and a lawn tennis court.
Over the years Shelburne has been enthused about in various publications including the New York Times and has won numerous awards including “Guesthouse of the Year” and “Best Breakfast.”
For the discerning visitor Shelburne Lodge offers bedrooms which have been individually furnished with contempory Irish art, antiques and polished old wooden floors.
