Kenmare or Neidin (meaning “little nest” in Irish) nestles at the foot of the surrounding mountains of Cork and Kerry. It is an excellent base for walking in this most scenic part of Ireland. Kenmare has a range of restaurants to suit all tastes. Being located at the edge of the sea provides Kenmare with the finest fresh seafood. Kenmare is the first heritage town to be chosen in Co Kerry and you can find an informative heritage centre located in the town square inside the tourist office. Kenmare is the ideal touring centre, adjoining the Ring of Kerry and close to the ring of Beara, it is 40 minutes’ drive from Killarney, 30 minutes from Glengarriff, 1½ hours from Cork airport, 2½ hours from Shannon and under an hour from Kerry County International Airport at Farranfore.
