Kenmare Athletic Club
Kenmare Athletic Club reformed in 2009 after an absence of more than 10 years. The club currently has over 200 registered juvenile and master athletes and is one of the biggest clubs in the county. Our athletes compete in cross country, track and field events at County, Munster and National level. Kenmare AC have held the Kerry Juvenile Country Cross Country Shield for the last four years and were the overall winners at the 2012, 2013 and 2014 Kerry Community Games Athletics. In 2014 they were recipients of the Munster Star Award for best ‘B’ Cross Country Club in Munster.
We hold regular fundraising events throughout the year including the Wild West Run, The Kenmare Bridge Run and the Humpty Dumpty Duathlon which allow us to keep our membership at a very reasonable €20 for juveniles and €25 for adults. Two fun development events are also held every year to encourage participation in athletics – these are the Inter School Cross Country Championships in September and the Kenmare Primary School Sports in May.
We hold several training sessions every week that are open to all registered club members. There is a nominal charge for indoor sessions to cover cost of hiring the hall and new equipment but outdoor training is free of charge.
